Find Your Screens and Customize Your Routine
Use the top navigation in Football Manager 27 to reach Portal, Squad, Tactics, Recruitment, Training and Club. Customize your landing screens and keyboard shortcuts in Preferences, rearrange your bookmarks, and swap selected information tiles to suit the tasks you repeat each match week.
Reach the Core Management Screens
The primary and secondary navigation menus sit at the top of the screen and handle almost all movement between areas. Tiles now primarily present information. Many former cards also open as full screens, so use the menus when you want to move to another management task.
- Select Squad in the primary navigation to see your squad immediately with its initial landing setting. This is a useful starting point when your next task concerns the players already at your club.
- Choose a destination from the Squad drop-down to reach the overview, first team, youth team, dynamics or loans. Some entries have further drop-down menus for more specific pages.
- Select Tactics in the primary navigation to open your tactics with the initial landing setting. Use this route when the job in front of you is reviewing your tactical setup.
- Select Training in the primary navigation to reach your training with the initial landing setting. Training is accessible from the primary bar regardless of the screen you are currently viewing.
- Use the secondary navigation toggle to switch between screens within the current area. It lets you reach related screens without returning to the overview to find a tile.
Find Actions in the Control Panel
Look underneath the primary and secondary navigation for the control panel on the main management screens. In Squad, its actions can include holding a team meeting or delegating responsibilities. In Recruitment, it provides access to staff recruitment advice, budget adjustments, recruitment focuses, scouting range and budget, and staff delegation.
Make the control panel part of your first glance at a screen. If you know the decision you want to make, check for its action there before exploring the rest of the page. This is especially helpful while you are learning where your recurring jobs belong.
Set Landing Screens, Shortcuts and Bookmarks
- Open Preferences to find the settings for primary navigation landing screens and shortcut editing. These controls let you tailor both your menu destinations and your keyboard navigation.
- Set the Squad landing destination to the first team if that is the screen you usually need. Selecting Squad can then take you there instead of opening the overview.
- Remap your keyboard shortcuts in Preferences to a set that suits your routine. Prioritize the available actions you repeatedly need so that the bindings are easier for you to remember.
- Drag and drop your bookmarks into the order you want on the Bookmark Bar. Their text descriptors help you recognize destinations without relying only on their icons.
Choose landing screens around the work you actually do. If opening an area usually leads straight to another page, consider making that page your destination. Keep your bookmark order familiar while you learn the interface, then adjust it when your priorities change.
Swap Tiles for More Useful Information
Selected tiles in Portal and other areas have drop-down controls for replacing their contents. Each replacement must be another tile of the same size. This gives you a choice of information within supported tile positions.
- Open the drop-down on a supported tile to see its replacement options. This is the control to use when the information currently shown is less useful to your routine.
- Replace Recruitment's default Transfer Window tile with affiliate clubs or transfer history if either better suits your current task. These are available examples of alternative information for that tile.
Give each visible tile a purpose. Ask whether it helps you make a decision you regularly face, rather than choosing information simply because it is interesting. Revisit your choices when your attention shifts between squad preparation and recruitment.
Handle Reports and Offers Inside Messages
Messages are colour-coded by topic, helping you recognize what has arrived. Scout reports appear inside their messages, and multiple transfer offers for the same player are grouped together. Items such as offers and scout reports can be actioned within the message instead of requiring you to navigate away.
For weekly preparation, the relevant messages also let you edit the training schedule and set match preparation types for scheduled sessions. Staff meeting suggestions appear together in a message, with options to implement them collectively or individually. Check these messages before taking a separate trip through the management screens.
Fit Tables and Text to Your Screen
The interface adapts its screen composition to your display size, resolution and preferences. Tables aim to use the available vertical and horizontal space, and custom views let you choose the type and amount of information shown. Ultrawide support also allows large tables to rescale across a wider display.
Preferences includes Small, Medium and Large layout options on displays running at 1440p, also called QHD, or above. Its dedicated accessibility section includes larger fonts, options to remove certain interface animations, a colour-blind mode and black-and-white commentary text. Compare the available settings on the screens you use most, keeping readability central to your choice.
Arrange the Screen Between Match Highlights
The screen between highlights supports selected tile swapping and layouts that adapt to your monitor. Heat Maps and Action Zones provide information you can review during the match. After the match, the Data Hub includes Pass Maps showing patterns of play and where moves and chances develop.
Choose match information around the decisions you want to make from the touchline. Keep the displays you can interpret quickly, then reconsider anything you consistently ignore. A useful layout should help you notice what needs your attention while the match is unfolding.
